¶ Eccentrifuge is a tiny company based in the remote mountains of southwestern North Carolina. We offer technical consultation services to digital type foundries both small and large. In recent years, the emergence of new font technologies like OpenType and Apple Advanced Typography (formerly TrueType GX) has opened up new creative freedom for type designers, but that freedom's price is added complexity. We assist type designers in navigating and managing the complexity of OpenType feature programming, Euro conversion, character encoding and Unicode, Python scripting, bitmap embedding, and to a certain extent, internationalization.
¶ We also specialize in developing connected OpenType font designs at a level of fluidity previously unavailable, allowing your designs to achieve a true handwritten look. The same principles can apply to complex interlocking scripts, which can take on a stacked, woven or labrynthine effect. With properly implemented contextual features, OpenType designs can exhibit qualities previously available only in hand-lettered logos.
